“人为朋友舍命，人的爱心没有比这个大的。” – 约 15:13
在今天的经文中，耶稣称祂的门徒为“朋友”。友谊是建基于互爱的；朋友是一个你能与他无所不谈的人，一个你想见的人，一个你关心的人。
耶稣是我们最好的朋友。祂为我们舍命，好叫我们能从罪和死的咒诅中得释放，又得着与神同在的新生命。耶稣为我们受死，证明祂多么爱我们。
在人类历史上，虽然也曾有人自愿代他人受死，但除了耶稣外，没有任何人能够以自己的生命代替无数朋友的生命的。
一首古旧圣诗说：“耶稣是我亲爱朋友！”耶稣真的是我们的朋友，而令人惊奇的是祂也视我们为祂的朋友！祂是我们一生的朋友，我们什么也可以跟祂谈，祂喜欢与我们在一起，祂关心我们。
如此美好的友谊会带来什么呢？就是带来喜乐！耶稣以我们（祂的朋友）为乐；而我们也以祂为乐。
祷告
主耶稣，我们享受与你为友。我们知道，你付上沉重的代价来成为我们的朋友。感谢你付上那重价、又永远做我们真正和最好的朋友。阿们。
约翰福音 15:9-17
9“我爱你们，正如父爱我一样，你们要常在我的爱里。
10你们若遵守我的命令，就常在我的爱里，正如我遵守了我父的命令，常在他的爱里。
11这些事我已经对你们说了，是要叫我的喜乐存在你们心里，并叫你们的喜乐可以满足。
12你们要彼此相爱，像我爱你们一样，这就是我的命令。
13人为朋友舍命，人的爱心没有比这个大的。
14你们若遵行我所吩咐的，就是我的朋友了。
15以后我不再称你们为仆人，因仆人不知道主人所做的事。我乃称你们为朋友，因我从父所听见的，已经都告诉你们了。
16不是你们拣选了我，是我拣选了你们，并且分派你们去结果子，叫你们的果子常存，使你们奉我的名无论向父求什么，他就赐给你们。
17我这样吩咐你们，是要叫你们彼此相爱。
Jesus Dies For His Friends
“Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” – John 15:13
In our Scripture reading for today we see that Jesus calls his disciples “friends.” Friendship is based on mutual love. A friend is someone you can talk with about anything. A friend is someone whom you look forward to seeing. A friend is someone you care about.
Jesus is the best friend you and I have ever had. He laid down his life for us so that we could be freed from the curse of sin and death and receive new life with God. Jesus proved the extent of his love for us when he died in our place.
There may have been some people in human history who willingly died for someone else. But no one besides Jesus could possibly trade his life for the lives of millions and millions of his friends.
An old hymn says, “What a friend we have in Jesus!” Jesus is indeed our friend, and, amazingly, he sees us as his friends! He is our lifelong friend whom we can talk to about anything. He loves to hang around with us. He cares about us.
What is the result of this beautiful friendship? Joy! Jesus takes joy in us, his friends, and we take joy in him.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, we enjoy your friendship. We know that becoming our friend cost you dearly. Thank you for paying that price and for truly being our best friend forever. Amen.
